Facebook and God

I've been Facebooking for about 16 months now. Just recently I was struck by the conviction that I should daily glorify Jesus Christ on this popular site. Facebook seems to have turned into a temple of the Self. Millions of people tell other millions of people about themselves. People stay on Facebook for hours everyday and Jesus Christ hardly gets a status mention on most FB walls. I admit I have more posts about my "Self" than about the Word of God. As a Christian I must respond to the prompting of the Spirit of God to obey His Word. Jesus said in Matthew 28:19-20, "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen."

If one is indifferent towards the things of God, one can turn Facebook into a Babel Tower. The self is glorified. Man and his many doings are magnified. Facebook is the temple of the king named Self. It's a challenge to put Jesus first on Facebook. And I am faced with this challenge in the light of my recent divine prompting. Truly I accept such challenge like a brave Christian. I will do the things that please the Lord even if it requires my permanent leaving of the Facebook temple.

  1. Amen! By the grace of God , we will just keep posting the word of God. Did you noticed if we post some verses of scripture, we seldom see people like it, or comments. But if you will post, like about yourself and everything. See how much comments we've got. I am also convicted by the prompting of the holy spirit. Facebook is like a trend that everybody succumb their life to an open book to millions around the globe. An enticement of the devil to so we'll be more be BUSY - Being Under Satan's Yoke. 3. Thank you also for you are also a vessel of God's blessing to people who needs the word of God in your FB. I am really contemplating on the this message and the articles that I read from www.ligonier.org/blog. I will try to do some pruning and detoxification spiritually. God bless you also. As there's a worship song says, "We Stand in the Gap on behalf of our Land", I may say, we will stand in the Lord's righteousness. Jesus is LORD!!!
